How I Design
This page is meant to showcase and explain my process of starting a project and creating the design all the way through to the end product. Multiple steps are involved over the course of a few days to a few weeks, depending on what needs to be done.
01 Research
After receiving the guidelines for a project, I immediately go into researching the client and/or the subject matter relating to the project. This is to make sure that the idea of what the client may be looking for is accurate and can be understood. Multiple sources are looked at such as main websites, blogs, reviews, and more. The example showcased for this page will be my Ibiza travel poster (see here)
02 Mood board
Once I have the proper knowledge of the subject matter and know how to handle it, I begin to create a collage of images that can be used as references and inspirations related to items I may want to include, or represent the aesthetic the end product may have.
References include multiple clubs, resorts, and historic places in Ibiza, as well as the layout and aesthetic of concert posters, and other related items I may add. I also start to create a color palette in this stage.
03 Sketches
After I have an idea of what references I'd like to use and the overall aesthetic for the project, I start creating thumbnail sketches of what the end product may look like. I tend to play around with composition, layout, and a mix of different ideas that all relate to the project theme. Once the concept has been pushed far enough, the sketch which best fits the idea in mind is decided on either by the client or I.
The 13th sketch was the one that was closest to the final result.
04 Digital rough draft
Finally the project design moves forward onto the computer. From here I'll play around with color, shape, and type until I or the client have the best choices/assets to work with. A digital sketch of the product may also be needed if illustration is involved.
